Passionate about development work? Enjoy networking? Love a good project? We might just have the perfect role for you.

Join the YWAM Medical Ships team by becoming a Community Ambassador in your local community. We are looking for people who are willing to give their time and use their networks to get their community involved in supporting the work of YWAM Medical Ships in PNG.

What’s involved?

Here are a few things you’ll be asked to do as a Community Ambassador:

  • Make a 12 month commitment
  • Fundraise for a YWAM Medical Ships project
  • Spread the word about volunteering opportunities to local medical and marine professionals.
  • Make presentations to local service clubs, churches, schools, medical groupings and other community groups.
  • Share about us on social media.
  • Organise a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and spectacle collection drive.
  • Touch base with us at least once a month so we can support you and give you any important updates.

How we’ll equip you

To help equip you for the role, we will:

  • Take you through an orientation on YWAM Medical Ships
  • Provide you with promotional materials, videos and resources for presentations
  • Connect you with a staff member who can answer your questions
  • Give you a YWAM Medical Ships shirt
  • Provide you with business cards

Youth Ambassadors

Represent YWAM Medical Ships at your school

Are you passionate about helping people? Do you enjoy projects? Want to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Why not become a YWAM Medical Ships Ambassador at your school.

We are looking for passionate young people who are willing to rally their school behind supporting YWAM Medical Ships’ work in Papua New Guinea.

What is a Youth Ambassador?

As a Youth Ambassador you will have the opportunity to lead your peers and the wider community in helping to achieve YWAM Medical Ships vision; delivering essential healthcare to isolated and vulnerable people groups in Papua New Guinea.

What’s involved?

Here are a few things you’ll be asked to do as a School Ambassador:

  • Make a commitment for the entire school year
  • Let your school know about YWAM Medical Ships and the health needs in PNG – show our 4 minute video at assembly or invite us to speak with you.
  • Organise a toothbrush & soap collection drive or a fundraising event such as a casual day, sausage sizzle or bake sale at your school.
  • In High School? We have volunteering opportunities on our ship for high school students. Why not put a group together from your school?
  • If you have Facebook or Instagram, share our posts with your friends
  • Touch base with us at least once a school term so we can support you.

What you’ll gain from becoming a Youth Ambassador

As a Youth Ambassador you will have the opportunity to develop new skills and capabilities that you will take with you for the rest of your life. You will also walk away with a greater perspective on the world and opportunities there are to make a difference. To help you in your role, YWAM MSA will:

  • Take you through an orientation on YWAM Medical Ships
  • Provide you with brochures, videos and posters.
  • Connect you with a YWAM Medical Ships staff member who can answer your questions, give you ideas and mentor you for your role.
  • Give you a YWAM Medical Ships t-shirt
  • Connect you with other Youth Ambassadors
  • Offer you a spot on an outreach in PNG with a guardian

What we’re looking for

We are seeking Youth Ambassadors who:

  • Enjoy rallying others behind a cause
  • Get excited by creative and innovative ideas
  • Are keen to learn new skills and challenge themselves
  • Are genuinely interested in areas of injustice and poverty and want to see change in the world.
  • Young people who are willing to make a 12 month commitment on a volunteer basis.
